Black Sea Oil & Gas SA (BSOG) is a Romanian-based independent energy company, founded in 2015, dedicated to developing and operating innovative energy projects. Since mid-2022, BSOG has successfully operated the Midia Gas Development Project (MGD Project)—the first offshore gas development project in Romania’s Black Sea in over 30 years.
The Ana and Doina gas fields, located in the XV Midia Shallow Concession, currently supply 12% of Romania’s total gas demand. With a robust offshore infrastructure in place, the project not only can support third-party gas offtake but also provides a strong foundation for advancing green energy initiatives such as offshore wind, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and green hydrogen production.
Building on its commitment to sustainability, BSOG launched a wholly owned subsidiary in 2024, dedicated to green energy projects across Romania. The newly established, BSOG Energy, as its first initiative, aims to secure and develop at least five high-quality biomethane sites, each with a minimum capacity of 20MW, reinforcing the company’s role as a key driver of Romania’s energy transition.
