The Midia Gas Development Project (MGD) is centered around the Ana and Doina gas fields, which hold approximately 10 billion cubic meters (Bcm) of gas reserves. These fields, discovered in 1995 and 2007, belong to the latest Miocene to Dacian age and are located 121 km offshore Romania in the XV Midia Shallow Block, where water depths reach 70 meters.
The MGD Project is designed to efficiently extract and process gas, leveraging state-of-the-art offshore and onshore infrastructure:
Five production wells:
Subsea and onshore pipeline network:
This strategic infrastructure ensures efficient production, processing and transportation of gas, contributing to Romania’s energy security while supporting future expansion opportunities.
1st gas was reached in mid-2022, following a three-year development stage. The current production plateau rate of 3.1 million cubic meters day and represents 12% of Romania’s consumption.
